Animals Needing Extra Care
Animals in this area are in need of extra care and attention as a result of substantial abuse or illness. Each is a loving animal we are confident can live a happy and fulfilling life with a 'fur-ever family' who can provide that extra care and attention.
Charlie

Charlie is a Pit mix who was rescued from an abusive situation, where he had been since a puppy. As a result, early on Charlie had displayed highly aggressive behavior. HomeFur-ever took Charlie to be evaluated by an animal behavior specialist who thought he was beyond help from rehabilititation.
Since HomeFur-ever has never yet had to euthanize an animal, we just couldn't admit failure and one of our volunteers contacted The Detroit Dog Trainer for assistance. He spent about 2 months working very closely with Charlie, and the results can only be described as amazing! Charlie is now a very well behaved dog, who follows commands readily and who is a wonderful companion.
The Detroit Dog Trainer recommends that Charlie be placed with either a single person or young couple who will have at least an hour a day to spend concentrated time working with him on a consistent basis to maintain his training and establish themselves as 'leader of the pack'. In such an environment he feels very confident that Charlie will thrive as a wonderful member of the household. He is extremely bright, well-behaved, and eager to learn and be loved.
